Tikeibank: Singapore to Suez Canal

Having finally left Singapore we headed west and into the Indian Ocean which was a very pleasant stretch of water, the weather was cool, there were plenty of dolphins (up to around 100 at one point) and at times the sea was mirror flat. I spent my time learning a little celestial navigation.

The Red Sea is very windy and populated with warships, most of them American. We got to see a few of them up close but we didn't get bothered by them too much. I made a valiant effort to paint the monkey island, but the wind made sure that most of the paint ended up on me.

We are currently transiting the Suez Canal and I'm about to go on watch. We're the 18th ship in the convoy, the first seven of which are American warships, one of which is a submarine. I can't see them from here though.

As we arrived in Suez we changed our first mate, meaning we've now had three first mates and three second engineers this trip, as well as 3 third mates.

I'll be home on the evening of the 18th.

I was about to ask the same thing. And also, when you say you'll be home on the 18th is that Britain, Cardiff or Nottingham?
